[Sui generis is a post latin expression, meaning of its own kind/genus or unique in its characteristics. The expression was created by scholastic philosophy to indicate an idea, an entity or a reality that cannot be included in a wider concept.]

Jordan de Ruiter is a Toronto based designer who has been designing and creating clothing since she taught herself how to sew (with tons of help from her mom!) in elementary school. She started her line in 2006 after being asked to make clothing for a local store in her hometown of Collingwood. It started off as a hobby and has turned into a handmade line sold at stores in Collingwood and Toronto. She also designs and creates her own jewellery line under the same name.

She attended George Brown College for fashion design to further her skill and knowledge of the industry.

She has been feautured in blogs and publications such as Torontos Eye Weekly, has won the Collingwood Chamber of Commerce Young Entrepeneur award.
